Hello,
Welcome to 1st Grade with Ms. Salley. I hope you are excited to be here as I am excited to have you. Here is where you will get to know all about me. I was born and raised in the "Big Apple" other wise known as New York City. I am a Veteran of the United States Army and was proud to have served under "Operation Iraqi/Enduring Freedom" from 2003-2004 Boots on Ground! I became a Charlottean after my redeployment in 2004. I am a graduate of UNC Charlotte, class of 2008 with a degree in Elementary Education. While my heart is in New York and my extended family is here in Charlotte I am a true Steelers Fan.
Quiet as kept my 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Chase had the most profound effect on me as an elementary age student. She was honest, direct, and nurturing all at the same time. She was the first one to teach me how to write a letter of thanks. My favorite Young Adult books growing up was anything written by Judy Blume. She wrote about all of the challenges a young adult faces throughout their school age years. My favorite picture books are "Where the Wild Things Are," and everything by Eric Carl. This summer I fell in in love with "Mr. Popper's Penguin", "The Mighty Miss Malone," and everything by John Green. As you can see I love to read.
